Pramod Pathak is an Indian actor and director, best known for his role as J.P. Yadav in Amazon Prime's web series "Mirzapur." He has also been a part of several other web series, including "Raktanchal," "Maharani," and "CAT."
Born into a business family in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, Pramod received his initial education in his hometown before moving to Nainital for further studies. However, his desire for something different in life led him to Mumbai. Initially, he worked in market research companies in South Mumbai but also ventured into the world of Bollywood as a background artist in some films.
In 1996, Pramod joined a theatre group to hone his acting skills. Eventually, he decided to pursue acting as a full-time profession and left his job to focus on his passion. During his struggling days, he took on various roles in the film industry, working as an assistant, dialogue writer, production designer, and sound operator.
His breakthrough role came in 2002 when he portrayed the character of Mahour in the biographical period film "The Legend of Bhagat Singh." Subsequently, he appeared in notable films like "Mumbai Cutting," "Phas Gaye Re Obama," and "Saare Jahaan Se Mehnga."
However, it was his performance as Sultana Daku in Anurag Kashyap's blockbuster film "Gangs of Wasseypur" in 2012 that brought him widespread recognition and opened doors to more significant supporting roles in Bollywood films.
Apart from his work in films, Pramod Pathak has garnered popularity in the digital space. He has been featured in various web series, with some of his notable roles being J.P. Yadav in "Mirzapur," Tripurari in "Raktanchal," and Mishra Ji in "Maharani."
