Mrinal Dutt is an Indian actor and model known for his work in Hindi films, Hindi television, and web shows. He was born and raised in Delhi and completed his graduation from Zakir Hussain College, University of Delhi.
Dutt began his acting career with small roles in South Indian films, such as the Telugu film "Tuneega Tuneega" in 2012. In 2013, he gained recognition for his role as Vikrant in the teenage drama series "MTV Webbed," produced by Balaji Telefilms. The following year, he landed his first lead role in the series "Private Investigator." In the show, he portrayed Raffe Roy Choudhary, a college-going teenager who helps a police inspector solve crimes. Dutt prepared for the role by studying and observing people's mannerisms and behavior in common places. He also styled his character himself, giving him a youthful look.
Dutt appeared in various episodic roles in Season 3 of the relationship-based show "Yeh Hai Aashiqui" in 2015. In Season 4, the show transitioned from a weekly format to a daily show, and Dutt took on the role of the host. In 2017, he featured in the short film "A Moment," which he conceptualized with director Rohit James. The film was screened at the Brooklyn Film Festival.
In 2019, Dutt had a supporting role in the web series "Coldd Lassi Aur Chicken Masala," produced by ALTBalaji and directed by Pradeep Sarkar. He played the character of a playboy lover who is in a complex relationship with a sous chef. From 2019 onwards, Dutt appeared in three seasons of the romantic-thriller web series "Hello Mini" on MX Player. The series is based on "The Stranger Trilogy" by Novoneel Chakraborty, and Dutt portrays the love interest of the protagonist.
In 2020, Dutt starred in the short sci-fi film "55 km/sec," directed by Arati Kadav. The film tells the story of a man who, in a world awaiting doomsday, confesses his love to his long-time crush. Due to the COVID-19 lockdown, the film was directed remotely, with Dutt and his co-star setting up their own frames using their own devices for shooting.
In 2021, Dutt played the role of Preet, a homosexual man in love with a married man, in the web series "His Storyy." He found the role challenging and expressed excitement about it. In June 2021, his web series "Khwabon Ke Parindey" premiered on Voot. The series follows a group of friends on a road trip from Melbourne to Perth. It was shot at 12 different locations in Australia.
