Sanghmitra Hitaishi is an accomplished film and stage actress originally from India. She currently divides her time between Valencia, Spain, and Mumbai, India. In 2015, she made history by becoming the first Indian actress to be selected as part of the "Berlinale Talents" program.
Her acting career took off with the film "Lajwanti, the guardian of honor," which had its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival. This marked her entry into independent Indian cinema and paved the way for her to work on international projects in Spain and Britain.
Sanghmitra has also made notable contributions to web series, having worked with platforms such as Netflix, Amazon, and BBC. Her short films have been showcased at prestigious international film festivals such as Clermont Ferrand and Raindance, while also winning accolades at Indian National awards.
Beyond her acting prowess, Sanghmitra is also a skilled screenwriter. She recently co-wrote a feature film script that earned the Valencia development grant. Additionally, she is venturing into directing and is currently working on her first short film.
